Iran’s Minister of Science, Research and Technology has appointed Dr. Ali Mahdinia as the Acting President of the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science (INIOAS).

Dr. Mahdinia is a professor of analytical and environmental chemistry at INIOAS. His research focuses on marine pollution, analytical chemistry, and environmental chemistry. He has published numerous scientific papers, contributed to book development, and holds five registered patents. He is also included in the global list of the top 2% most influential scientists, according to international citation metrics.

Dr. Mahdinia has previously served as Deputy for Research, Secretary of the Faculty Recruitment Committee, Member of the INIOAS Research Council, and Head of the Marine Science Research Division at INIOAS.

In a separate letter, the Minister thanked Dr. Morteza Tavakoli, the former President of the institute, for his service during his tenure.
