INIOAS Appointed as Convenor of ISO “Soluble Silica” Working Group
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has appointed the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science (INIOAS) as the **Convenor of the “Soluble Silica” Working Group for a three-year term. The decision was endorsed by 17 member countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Belgium, China, Japan, Russia, France, and South Korea.
According to INIOAS, Dr. Ali Mahdinia has been designated as the Convenor of the Working Group. The Soluble Silica Working Group operates under the ISO International Water Quality Committee and is responsible for developing and coordinating international standards related to soluble silica.
Neda Shijooni, Head of the Standardization Office at INIOAS, stated that this appointment highlights the institute’s recognized expertise in standardization and will enhance opportunities for international scientific and technical collaboration. She noted that leading this working group will enable Iran to contribute directly to shaping global standards and advancing joint projects.
