The Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science focuses on the development of knowledge, technology, and marine and atmospheric policy research, working towards enhancing the country's scientific standing at both regional and international levels.
The vision of this institute, formulated in alignment with the objectives of the Iran 2025 programs, is to elevate it to the premier national institute in the realm of basic sciences, humanities, ocean and atmospheric engineering, and technology studies within the country, and to transform it into a leading institution in oceanographic and atmospheric sciences in the region, as well as a credible and responsive reference at the global level.
Core Areas of Institute Activity
Conducting oceanographic and atmospheric science studies through fundamental, applied, and developmental research aimed at understanding marine and atmospheric processes and phenomena.
Implementing specialized and general training programs, developing skill-building initiatives, and enhancing scientific capacity in the fields of marine, oceanographic, and atmospheric sciences and technologies.
Identification, development, and participation in technologies related to ocean and atmospheric sciences and technologies, and leveraging innovative capacities.
Providing research outputs and scientific-technological services to national and international institutions with the aim of improving decision-making in marine, oceanographic, and atmospheric domains.
