In the 22nd meeting of the Supreme Council of the Union of Coastal and Marine Universities and Research Centers, which was held on Wednesday, May 12, 1403, with the presence of 14 heads and representatives of the union at the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences, in addition to electing Dr. Morteza Tawakli as the new president of the union for 2 years, holding quarterly union meetings, revising the union's statutes, revising the strategic document for the development of higher education in the field of marine sciences and techniques approved in 2013 Emphasis was placed.
According to the research institute's public relations report, in this meeting, the active role of universities in compiling documents related to sea-oriented development, holding a meeting with the minister and deputy ministers of the Ministry of Defense, Paying attention to the development of cooperation and interactions at the national and international level, updating the information bank of the country's maritime experts, publishing an international publication and cooperation of universities in the exploitation of the Persian Gulf probe. It was suggested by the attendees and further the actions of universities in line with sea-oriented development policies, including the attention and focus of universities on regional advantages, especially the sustainable exploitation of the sea in coastal provinces, launching new courses or updating the chapters. The organization of scientific conferences such as sea-oriented development conference, history and civilization of the Persian Gulf, high-speed vessels, and water economy were explained.
The activation of the educational and research working groups of the union with the focus of the Persian Gulf and Noshirvani Babol universities respectively and the creation of new technology, innovation, policymaking and maritime working groups with the focus of Tarbiat Modares, Mazandaran, Amir Kabir University of Technology and Imam Khomeini Marine Sciences respectively were among the other resolutions of this meeting.
In a part of this meeting, the member universities' problems in attracting students, centralization in policy making, lack of experimental training in maritime fields, lack of suitable job market and insufficient support for graduates of these fields and the need to attract university elites in maritime fields were discussed and exchanged opinions. One of the important ways to overcome these problems is to pay attention to moving towards the fourth generation of universities, i.e. entrepreneurial universities through supporting the development of knowledge-based technologies and the development of growth centers and science and technology parks in order to create foci Graduates of the university were named.

The Union of Coastal and Maritime Universities and Research Centers, while celebrating the ingenious planning of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution (Madazla Al-Ali) in communicating the general policies of sea-oriented development, evaluates its implementation as an important step in the realization of the strategy of modern Islamic civilization and declares the full readiness of the members to cooperate in the development of a comprehensive plan for the realization of these policies.
The members of the union, with regard to the axis contained in the general policies of sea-oriented development, which is about "providing and promoting human capital and committed and efficient management and creating scientific, educational and research support for sea-oriented development and marine innovation and technology ecosystem", which oversees the activities of research institutes and member universities of this union, a set of measures including the implementation of operational research programs and continuous monitoring in the surrounding water basins, Launching new marine courses and postgraduate and postdoctoral courses and developing parks and growth centers put on the agenda is to finally "increase the production with the participation of the maritime community of the country", to bring the share of marine-based knowledge production from the GDP to an acceptable level in the region and the world.
The members of the Supreme Council of the Union strongly support the security-building and decisive measures of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the exercise of sovereignty national It announces and honors the important action of the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in carrying out the longest sea voyage in the history of Iran and circumnavigating the globe by the all-Iranian destroyer Dana and Makran navigator.
With the aim of protecting the name of the Persian Gulf, the members of the union define it as one of their main missions by conducting continuous scientific research, producing scientific documents and publishing them in reputable scientific journals, enriching the data bank and oceanographic information of the Persian Gulf, and collecting historical documents related to it, and consider the support of research related to the Persian Gulf as one of the central issues in the agenda of the members.
The Union declares its support for valuable actions in the field of Antarctic scientific research and demands support for these activities as one of the country's research priorities.
