It was built in the research institute: the first directional wave recorder in the country

"The first directional wave recorder" was built in the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences in order to take the directional characteristics of waves.

According to the research institute's public relations report, Dr. Seyyed Masoud Mahmudov, a member of the faculty and executive of this project, said: Knowing various phenomena, including air climate, wave and current regime, and other natural phenomena, requires field data collection with access to up-to-date and accurate equipment. Therefore, for this purpose, "the first directional wave recorder" was designed and built with the aim of knowing the wave regime of marine and oceanic environments.

While referring to the high price of hydrodynamic measuring equipment and on the other hand the restriction of buying and importing this equipment from other countries due to the cruel sanctions, he stated: Due to the sanctions, we are deprived of the use of many modern international devices. Therefore, in recent years, it has been tried to take a special look at the issue of field measurement equipment construction in the research institute. For this purpose, in the form of a technology plan approved by the Research and Technology Council, we succeeded in building a directional wave recorder in the research institute. 

Mahmudov added: Using this device, we will be able to extract the two-dimensional spectrum of waves. This device has gone through its initial tests and has reached a stage where it is going to be launched in the sea for the first time and the main tests will be done in the southern coasts and the Caspian Sea. 

Talking about saving money in the construction of this device, which was built in collaboration with the University of Science and Technology, he said: The construction of this device will cost the country about 7-8 thousand dollars, which brings about 90% savings for the country compared to the foreign model.

The research faculty member added: After passing the final stages of experimental data collection, we will put the stage of custom production and sales on the agenda, and all universities, maritime organizations and researchers, as well as consulting companies can use this device. Considering that currently, the sales contract for the first example of this device is being arranged and exchanged.
