On the occasion of commemorating the Basij Week, an educational webinar "The Effects of Climate Change on Human Health" will be held.

According to the research institute's public relations report, in this educational workshop, which will be held by Dr. Ali Mehdinia, a member of the faculty and vice president of research and education of the institute, on Monday, December 5, at 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the interpretations and effects of climate and its effect on human life and health will be presented to those interested.

Mehdinia believes that climate change is considered as a major challenge for humanity in the 21st century, which can affect health, ecosystem and economy in significant ways. Human activities and the increase in global temperature not only cause the destruction of the environment, but also create significant risks for public health. Among these risks, the relationship between climate change and human health has become an important focus of global research and concern. The World Health Organization has recognized climate change as a key driver of health outcomes, highlighting its adverse impact, particularly on coastal communities, which has exacerbated existing health inequalities. Studies show that cancer, as the main cause of disease and death worldwide, is influenced by a wide range of environmental factors, some of which are changing with climate change.

He stated that the complex relationship between factors related to climate change such as air pollution, exposure to ultraviolet rays, extreme weather events and food security and the incidence of cancer is becoming more evident in scientific research. Recent realizations show that higher temperatures and changing climate conditions may lead to more exposure to carcinogens, interruptions in health care services, and increased vulnerability for marginalized communities.
