During the research week, marine science education (ocean literacy) was held at Shahid Firouzkohi School in Tehran

During the research and technology week, an educational and promotion class was held on the importance of seas and oceans (ocean literacy) for the students of Shahid Firouzkohi School in Tehran. 

According to the public relations report of the National Ocean Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences, on the occasion of research and technology week, the research institute sent its experts to Shahid Firouzkohi school in the 11th district of Tehran and organized an educational and promotional class for students about the importance of research and knowledge of the seas and oceans and the need to protect them. 

In this training course, which was held on Saturday, December 24, at the school by  The experts of the research institute were presented, while showing short films of biological sciences and marine geology, as well as showing marine and laboratory samples. The basic knowledge of oceanography as well as the importance and protection of the seas were explained to the students. 

It should be mentioned that in this educational course, booklets from the atlas of clouds and marine hazards (tsunami warning) prepared at the school level in order to encourage and promote marine and ocean sciences were distributed among the students. 

Considering that one of the components of sea-oriented development is to increase the society's awareness of the marine environment and the strategic and economic importance of the seas and oceans in line with the development of countries, and the requirement for this is primarily to increase the oceanic literacy of the society, especially in the basic education levels, the promotion of marine science and the promotion of oceanic literacy have been placed on the agenda of the research institute's promotional activities.
