A step towards promoting the environmental awareness of female students at the same time as the Persian Gulf National Day

On the occasion of the National Day of the Persian Gulf, a specialized workshop "Oceanic Literacy" was held with the participation of the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences and the Farabi Research Center (Tehran Biotechnology Pole) on Monday. ۸ Ordibehesht 1404 with the presence of female students of the second year of high school in the region 12 It was held in Tehran.

According to the public relations report of the research institute, this workshop was held with the aim of improving the scientific and environmental understanding of the young generation about the fundamental role of the oceans in the stability of the earth and empowering girls as future activists in environmental protection.

In the educational part of this event, the participants were introduced to the basic concepts of oceanography, the history of ocean formation, the importance of oceans in regulating climate and biological cycles, and the role of oceans in oxygen production..

Also, a part of the workshop was devoted to the study of human interaction with seas and oceans, during which topics such as sustainable exploitation of biological resources, aquatic life, compounds with medicinal potential, new energies, mineral resources and the importance of the sea in transportation, trade and water economy were discussed and the environmental effects of human activities on the sea were introduced.

In the interactive part, the students were closely acquainted with examples of marine life, sediments and minerals of the beaches. The speakers of this event, Dr. Babak Moradi, Dr. Mahshid Jalili and Engineer Mona Hosseindoost, from the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences, explained the topics scientifically and answered the students' questions..Students from Farzangan high schools ۹, M. Abiha and Professor Motahari were present in this workshop.

This event was a successful example of connecting science, education and environmental awareness at the secondary education level, which can be a good model for expanding environmental literacy in the country's schools..
