According to the research institute's public relations report, in this meeting, with the presence of the representatives of the member countries of the Indian Ocean region, the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC), related international organizations and scientific and research centers of the region were held. The strategies for promoting scientific cooperation, sustainable development of seas and oceans, and strengthening regional capacity building in the field of ocean sciences were discussed.

Also, in this international event, which was accompanied by the specialized workshop "Strengthening the stability of the oceans", specialists from the research institute participated as representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran and presented a report on scientific and regional activities..

In this meeting, the representatives of the research institute, while presenting a comprehensive report on the activities and programs of the "Regional Center for Oceanography Education and Research of West Asia" established under the supervision of UNESCO in this research institute, actively participated in all specialized topics related to ocean monitoring, sustainable development, reducing the risk of marine disasters, regional capacity building and ocean literacy..
