**The National Institute of Oceanography organizes a series of scientific lectures on the occasion of World Oceans Day**  

Iran's National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences, on the occasion of **World Oceans Day**, organizes a series of scientific lectures focusing on **Oceanic challenges and opportunities in the Persian Gulf and Sea of ​​Oman**. This event will be held online on June 8 (June 18, 1403).  

**Lectures topics:**  
1. **Exploring natural resources in deep waters: experiences in the Oman Sea and the way forward** (Dr. Hadi Grivani)
   - Investigating new findings of mineral and energy reserves in the deep sea of ​​Oman and its sustainable development prospects.  

2. **Surveying the potential of shark tourism in the waters around Chabahar** (Dr. Amir Ghazi Lo)
   - Feasibility study of ecotourism based on marine life and its role in local economy.  

3. **Marine heat waves and their environmental effects in the Persian Gulf** (Dr. Jafar Azizpour)
   - Analysis of the consequences of water temperature changes on coral ecosystems and marine biodiversity.  

4. **Investigation of the characteristics and ecological risk assessment of microplastics in offshore sediments of the Persian Gulf** (Dr. Ali Mehdinia)
   - Evaluation of plastic pollution and solutions to reduce its impact on the marine environment.  

 

Referring to the importance of this event, Dr. **Ali Mehdinia**, research and educational vice president of the institute, said: *"Protection of the oceans requires applied research and decisions based on scientific data. These lectures are a step towards a better understanding of regional challenges and providing solutions."*  

**World Oceans Day in 2025** will be celebrated with the slogan **"Endless wonder: Protecting what sustains us**" and its aim is to increase awareness about the vital role of oceans in human life.
