It took place with the publication of a book in a joint collaboration: describing the latest situation of Iran's corals
The researchers of Shahid Beheshti University and the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences described the latest situation of Iran's corals by publishing the book "Coral water rocks".
According to Isna, the book "Coral Reefs of Iran" with the main title "Coral Reefs of Iran: Biodiversity and Distribution in Extreme Environments" was jointly written by Dr. Mohammad Reza Shokri, a member of the faculty and associate professor of Shahid Beheshti University, specializing in ecology and marine biology, and Dr. Kivan Kabiri, a member of the faculty and associate professor of the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences, specializing in marine remote sensing, as the first comprehensive reference about corals in Iranian waters in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman. Published in Springer Nature International.
This book documents 56 coral species and their adaptation mechanisms to harsh environmental conditions and combines field data, remote sensing and ecology to analyze coral health and threats. In this book, practical solutions for the protection of the zoning of marine protected areas and the restoration of corals are presented and it is considered a resource for researchers, students and policy makers in the field of marine sciences.
In an interview with ISNA, Dr. Keyvan Kabiri pointed out: This book is the result of years of field research and the use of modern remote sensing technologies, which shows that the corals of Iran are highly resistant despite the heating and extreme salinity of the water.
He hoped that this work would be a step to draw global attention to the country's unique marine ecosystems. Those interested can get this book through the link https://link.springer.com/book/9783032005977.
