According to the public relations report of the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences, on the occasion of the Caspian Sea Day, the second "Zistban" environmental event, focusing on the emerging challenges of this sea, was hosted by the Environmental Protection Organization at the host hotel in Babolsar, with the presence of researchers, professors and environmental activists.

In this specialized event, Dr. Ahmad Radmanesh and Dr. Mehrshad Taheri, members of the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences, presented research findings in the field of emerging pollution in the Caspian Sea.

In the first part of his speech, Dr. Radmanesh examined the issue of microplastic pollution in the south of the Caspian Sea and by presenting the results of the studies conducted on water, sediment and biological species, he explained the solutions to control this pollution and the research institute's actions in this field.

He also paid attention to the phenomenon of macroalgae bloom and while analyzing the reasons for its occurrence, he discussed the effects of this phenomenon on the ecosystem and economy of the region. Introduction of Caspian macroalgae species and examples of algal blooms in the southern part of this sea was one of the other parts of this presentation.

In the following, Dr. Mehrshad Taheri examined thermal pollution as another important environmental challenge of the Caspian Sea and analyzed the various dimensions of this phenomenon.

This event was held with the aim of promoting public and specialized awareness of the emerging threats of the Caspian Sea and knowledge exchange among experts and environmental activists. The National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences, as one of the leading centers in marine research, has always taken steps to provide scientific solutions for the preservation and sustainability of the Caspian marine environment.
