Bushehr Governor's visit to the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences

An effective step in the direction of scientific synergy and development of the country's sea-oriented

In line with the realization of sea-oriented development policies and in order to expand scientific and executive cooperation at the national and provincial levels, Dr. Arslan Zare, the governor of Bushehr, along with the accompanying delegation, visited the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences.

During this visit, a joint specialized meeting was held with the presence of the president, vice-presidents and heads of specialized research institutes of the research institute, in which various scientific, environmental and developmental issues of Bushehr province were discussed and investigated with a scientific approach.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Tawakli, the head of the research institute, while welcoming the guests, presented a report on the missions, capabilities, current projects and achievements of the research institute in the fields of oceanography, meteorology, climate change and marine environment and emphasized that this institute is fully prepared for extensive cooperation with the governorate in the fields of research, education and technology.

Referring to the Persian Gulf probe based in Bushehr, he introduced this system as a strategic asset of the research center and said: "With the support of the governorate, new research stations can be established to strengthen scientific and maritime missions in the south of the country."

Further, while appreciating the research institute's scientific and technological capacities, the governor of Bushehr said: "Today, the National Oceanographic Research Institute has become a powerful and effective institution whose achievements can play a key role in the economic, environmental and industrial development of the province."

He emphasized: "Bushehr Governorate is determined to advance the development plans of the province in the framework of the country's sea-oriented development document and the guidelines of the Supreme Leader and the policies of the people's government based on science and research, in cooperation with the research institute."

In another part of the meeting, vice presidents and heads of specialized research institutes, including Dr. Mehdi Nia, vice president of research and training, Dr. Abedi, director of relations with industry, Dr. Saleh, director of the Ocean Sciences Institute, Dr. Kazeminejad, director of the Marine Engineering and Technology Research Institute, and Dr. Masoud Moradi, director of the Atmospheric Sciences Institute, while introducing their capacities, made suggestions in the field of setting up marine reference laboratories, developing research infrastructures and optimal use of the capacities of the Gulf Center. At the end of this meeting, the parties agreed on the rapid drafting of a comprehensive memorandum of cooperation between the Research Institute and Bushehr Governorate and holding national and international conferences focusing on sea-oriented and offshore development in Bushehr Province.

This cooperation is considered an effective step in the direction of realizing sustainable development and utilizing scientific capacities in the service of the country's coastal economy.
