Holding grassroots training workshop for sustainable development in Hormoz Island
The first grassroots educational workshop for sustainable development with the aim of "identifying the problem and collaborative solution for the development of Hormuz Island" will be held on November 4 and 5, 1404 in this island.
According to the public relations report of the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences, in this specialized workshop, which is held in collaboration with the research institute, the UNESCO office in Tehran, the National UNESCO Commission of Iran, and the Hormozgan Governorate, the issues and problems of the island will be identified, while discussing and examining the "sustainable tourism development and protection of the sensitive ecosystem of Hormoz Island", creating an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual understanding to protect resources and strengthen the local economy.
Dr. Samad Hamzaei, head of the Hormozgan Oceanographic Center, said: We believe that sustainable development can only be achieved through the active participation of the local community and all stakeholders.
According to this report, the titles "sustainable tourism development with an emphasis on preserving the environment, protecting the sensitive coastal and marine ecosystems of the island, managing waste and reducing the environmental effects of tourism, introducing the potential of geoparks and geotourism, the role of people's participation in preserving natural and cultural resources, practical solutions for balancing tourism development and environmental protection" are among the most important main axes of this workshop.
It should be noted that in this training program, which provides a valuable ground for knowledge exchange, mutual thinking and cooperation between national and international institutions in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development in the southern islands of the country, the Secretary General of the National Commission of UNESCO in Iran, the head of the UNESCO office in Tehran, the head of the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences, together with a group of national and local managers, experts and representatives of the local community of the Islamic Council of Hormoz, Hormoz Municipality, Hormoz Governorate, Provincial General Administrations, Culture and Islamic Guidance, Environment Life, cultural heritage, tourism and handicrafts, ports and shipping, industry, mining and trade organization, Hormozgan Industrial Towns Company and Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, as well as A group of selected local people, tour leaders, managers of ecotourism resorts, restaurateurs, boat owners, environmental activists and other key activists in the tourism and economic field of Hormoz Island.will be present.
This workshop is designed as a platform for direct dialogue between decision-making institutions, national and international experts, and the local community, in order to formulate practical solutions for the sustainable development of tourism along with the preservation of the unique ecosystem of this island with the consensus and participation of all stakeholders.
It is expected that the output of this training workshop for the local community of Hormoz Island and the managers of Hormozgan Province will lead to the preparation of an operational plan for the balanced development of tourism and environmental protection in Hormoz Island, and finally a model will be drawn for other islands in the country.
