Signing of a cooperation memorandum between the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences and the Fisheries Science Research Institute of the country
In line with the realization of the country's major scientific and development goals in the marine areas, the joint cooperation memorandum between the "National Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences" and the "National Fisheries Science Research Institute" was signed by the heads of the two institutions with the aim of strengthening scientific, research and educational cooperation.
This memorandum was concluded in the framework of sustainable development policies based on the sea and with an emphasis on the use of specialized capabilities, laboratory facilities and research infrastructures of the parties. Based on this agreement, future cooperation will be focused on the following areas:
- Implementing joint research projects in the fields of oceanography, fisheries, climate change and marine environment
- Holding training courses, workshops and scientific conferences at national, regional and international levels
- Exchange of research data, standardization of databases and development of joint monitoring systems
- Exploiting the laboratory, library and technology capacities of the parties
- Cooperation in attracting financial and credit resources for large marine projects
Dr. Ali Mehdinia, head of the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences, in this ceremony, emphasizing the great role that interdisciplinary marine research plays in the country's economic development and food security, described this memorandum as an effective step towards scientific synergy and utilization of the capacities of the two institutions.
On the other hand, Dr. Mohammad Sediq Mortazavi, head of the country's fisheries science research institute, also pointed to the need to pay attention to the sustainability of marine resources and the development of new research methods in the sea domain, and considered this cooperation as a platform for designing and implementing practical projects with tangible results in the fisheries industry and preserving marine ecosystems.
According to Article 17 of this memorandum, the validity period of this agreement is five years and can be extended if the parties agree. Also, implementation, follow-up and dispute resolution mechanisms are foreseen in the text of the memorandum.
This cooperation can help to create a coherent network of researchers, facilitate innovation processes and provide scientific solutions for challenges such as overfishing, sea pollution and the effects of climate change.
