"Union of Coastal and Marine Universities and Research Centers" with the aim of strengthening the culture of cooperation and collective work in order to provide facilities for the quantitative and qualitative development of higher education, discuss and review and present opinions on the goals and policies of the maritime macro and future maritime strategies of the country. decision-making centers, establishing communication and cooperation with foreign universities with the priority of universities and research centers of neighboring countries, preparing plans, planning and implementing joint maritime educational and research courses, as well as participating in the implementation of maritime research projects in the country, identifying capabilities and reaching the optimum utilization of the existing and potential facilities of the members of the union, expanding cooperation with maritime associations, organizations and bodies and promoting maritime culture in the country was established in 2016 at the suggestion of the National Research Institute of Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences.
This union currently has 19 members, including Shahid Beheshti University, Tarbit Modares (University of Natural Resources and Marine Sciences-Noor), Amir Kabir Industrial University (Marine Engineering University), Isfahan Industrial University (Undersea Science and Technology Institute), Fars Khaleej (Persian Gulf Institute). ), Mazandaran, Hormozgan, Gilan, Golestan, Gorgan Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Chabahar Maritime and Marine Sciences, Kavos Dome, Khorramshahr Marine Sciences and Techniques, Sari Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Noshirvani Babol Industrial, Shahid Chamran Ahvaz, Imam Marine Sciences Khomeini (RA), Malek Ashtar Industrial (North Defense Science and Technology Research Institute) and National Oceanography and Atmospheric Sciences Research Institute (Periodical Chairman and Permanent Secretary of the Union) are active as the most important union of maritime universities in the country.
Since the formation of the union, in addition to the thematic meetings at the levels of working groups under the supervision of the union, until now the presidents of the member universities of the union have held 21 joint meetings hosted by the research institute and the member universities, which have been very effective in coordination and joint decision-making. is Among the most important achievements of the activities of this union is the formation of the marine science and technology group in the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology for the planning and development of maritime higher education, the revision of the comprehensive scientific map of the country and the addition of topics related to the sea and the ocean to it, compilation Strategic document for the development of the country's higher education in the field of marine and oceanic sciences and techniques, scientific assistance to the implementation of the feasibility study plan and the production of contents related to oceanography in scientific and cultural dimensions to be presented in textbooks, approval of the bylaws for the joint use of the union members laboratory services, and the approval of biennial plans of the Union.

«اتحاديه دانشگاه ها و مراكز پژوهشي ساحلي و دريايي» با هدف تقويت فرهنگ مشاركت و كار جمعي به منظور فراهم آوردن امكانات توسعه كمي و كيفي آموزش عالي، بحث و بررسي و ارايه نظر در مورد اهداف و سياست هاي كلان دريايي و راهبردهاي آينده دريايي كشور به مراكز تصميم ساز، ايجاد ارتباط و همكاري با دانشگاه هاي خارجي با اولويت دانشگاه ها و مراكز تحقيقاتي كشورهاي همسايه، تهيه طرح ها، برنامه ريزي و اجراي دوره هاي مشترك آموزشي و پژوهشي دريايي و نيز مشاركت در انجام پروژه هاي تحقيقات دريايي كشور، شناسايي توانمندي ها و رسيدن به حد مطلوب بهره برداري از امكانات موجود و بالقوه اعضاي اتحاديه، گسترش همكاري با انجمن ها، سازمان ها و ارگان هاي دريايي و ارتقاي فرهنگ دريايي در كشور در سال 1386 به پیشنهاد پژوهشگاه ملی اقیانوس شناسی و علوم جوی ایجاد شد.
این اتحادیه هم کنون با 19 عضو شامل دانشگاه های شهید بهشتی ، تربيت مدرس (دانشكده منابع طبيعي و علوم دريايي- نور)، صنعتي اميركبير (دانشكده مهندسي دريا)، صنعتي اصفهان (پژوهشكده علوم و تكنولوژي زيردريا)، خليج فارس (پژوهشکده خليج فارس)، مازندران، هرمزگان، گيلان، گلستان، علوم كشاورزي و منابع طبيعي گرگان، دريانوردي و علوم دريايي چابهار، گنبد كاووس، علوم و فنون دريايي خرمشهر، علوم كشاورزي و منابع طبيعي ساري، صنعتي نوشيرواني بابل، شهيد چمران اهواز، علوم دريايي امام خميني(ره)، صنعتي مالك اشتر (پژوهشكده علوم و فناوري دفاعي شمال ) و پژوهشگاه ملي اقيانوس شناسي و علوم جوي (رئیس ادواری و مسئول دبيرخانه دائمی اتحاديه) به عنوان مهمترین اتحادیه دانشگاه های دریایی کشور مشغول فعالیت می باشد.
اقدامات
از زمان شکل گیری اتحادیه علاوه بر نشست های موضوعی در سطوح کارگروه های زیر نظر اتحادیه، تا کنون روسای دانشگاه های عضو اتحادیه 21 نشست مشترک را به میزبانی پژوهشگاه و دانشگاه های عضو برگزار کرده اند که در هماهنگی و تصمیم گیری های مشترک بسیار موثر بوده است. از جمله مهمترین دستاوردهای فعالیت های این اتحادیه می توان به تشكيل گروه علوم و فنون دريا در وزارت علوم، تحقيقات و فناوري براي برنامه ريزي و توسعه آموزش عالي دريايي، اصلاح نقشه جامع علمي كشور و افزودن مباحث مربوط به دريا و اقيانوس به آن، تدوين سند راهبردي توسعه آموزش عالي كشور در حوزه علوم و فنون دريايي و اقيانوسي، كمك علمي به اجراي طرح امكان سنجي و توليد محتواهاي مربوط به اقيانوس شناسي در ابعاد دانشي و فرهنگ سازانه جهت ارايه در كتاب هاي درسي، تصويب آيين نامه استفاده مشترك اعضاي اتحاديه از خدمات آزمايشگاهي، و تصويب برنامه های دوسالانه اتحاديه اشاره کرد.
با برنامه ریزی های صورت گرفته در دبیرخانه اتحادیه برنامه های مناسبتی علمی مانند برگزای مراسم گرامیداشت روز ملی خلیج فارس (10 اردیبهشت)، روز جهانی اقیانوس (18 خرداد)، و روز منطقه ای دریای خزر (21 مرداد)، با مشارکت منطقه ای دانشگاه های عضو به اجرا در آمده است. همچنین اتحادیه در برگزاری دو کنفرانس بین المللی اقیانوس شناسی غرب آسیا (RCOWA) در سال های 2017 و 2020 نقش اساسی ایفا نموده است.
